World Beat

The North Carolina Dance Theatre will conclude its 2004-05 home season with World Beat, an internationally flavored show featuring choreography by Alonzo King and Nicolo Fonte. African-American choreographer Alonzo King works within the traditional ballet form but takes a personal, contemporary approach to the line of the body. King's world premiere will engage audiences by exploring diverse cultures through movements inspired by distant lands. Performances will feature a cast of children alongside the Dance Theatre's professional dancers, spirited along by live music from Spanish, South American, and Moroccan musicians.
