WorldFeast 2005

What is WorldFeast?
A celebration of international foods and cultures to benefit the programs and services of International House. This festive event will allow the Charlotte community to come together and enjoy the diversity of the city's population through art and entertainment!


Who is involved?
Community volunteers, Wachovia, international restaurants, vendors, entertainers, and, of course, YOU!

The Wachovia Atrium & Plaza at the corner of South Tryon and Second Streets, downtown.

What Makes WorldFeast Different?
Interaction! WorldFeast is designed so that attendees, both children and adults, experience different cultures through active participation in the event. Our "Streetsmosphere" allows community members to interact with the vendor, artists and volunteers; people who come to the event become participants.

World Beat

The North Carolina Dance Theatre will conclude its 2004-05 home season with World Beat, an internationally flavored show featuring choreography by Alonzo King and Nicolo Fonte. African-American choreographer Alonzo King works within the traditional ballet form but takes a personal, contemporary approach to the line of the body. King's world premiere will engage audiences by exploring diverse cultures through movements inspired by distant lands. Performances will feature a cast of children alongside the Dance Theatre's professional dancers, spirited along by live music from Spanish, South American, and Moroccan musicians.

Trio from Chamber Music at St. Peter's Concert

International House is pleased to host a concert with performances by a trio from Chamber Music at St. Peter's. Alan Black, who is principal cellist with the Charlotte Symphony, will be joined by two other CSO members: violinist Jane Hart Brendle and acting principal flutist Amy Orsinger Whitehead. The musical program includes works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Georg Philip Telemann, Peter Schickele and Scott Joplin.
